Grammar: possessive pronouns

Possessive pronouns

We use possessive pronouns to show ownership.

Normally we use pronouns to substitute the noun and that way we avoid being repetitive.

Example:

I didn't bring my car so can I use your car?

I didn't bring my car so can I use yours?

Pronun Examples
Mine This dog is mine.
Yours My dad is older than yours.
His My bike is black, his is yellow
Hers That dress is hers
Ours It's your problem, not ours.
Yours Our apartment is next to yours.
Theirs My parents were driving a nice car, but it wasn't theirs.
"Possessive pronouns are neccesary for writing and communication to help us understand whom an item belongs."
