CAN / CAN'T shows ability, inability, request, permission, possibility, and inappropriateness. In this unit we will focus on ability and inability.

CAN - Ability

I can speak Chinese.

You can play tennis

She can sing very well

He can ride a horse

It can jump over the wall

You can read very quickly.

They can dance flamenco

CAN'T - Inability

I can`t speak Portuguese.

You can't cook sushi

She can't dance very well

He can't ride a motorbike

It can't breathe out of the water

We can't play the guitar.

You can't write very quickly.

They can't sing Soul.
